Tourism
Vernon is a leading tourist destination in Canada and a very desirable place to live. The City of Vancouver is a mere 4.5 hours away by car, or 45 minutes by air to the Kelowna International Airport. From the Kelowna International Airport it is a 30-minute drive to Vernon on one of the most scenic highways in Canada. Our host families welcome students from the Kelowna International Airport and drive them to their homestay.
Our world-class recreation facilities include SilverStar Mountain Resort (20 minutes from the city), Predator Ridge Golf Resort (one of Canada’s top golf courses) and the famous Sparkling Hill Resort.
Climate
Vernon boasts one of the best climates in Canada with mild winters and hot, dry summers. Students can experience snow in a short winter with mild, comfortable temperatures.

Vernon is a mere 50 minute flight from the Vancouver or Calgary airports arriving at the Kelowna International Airport. After your host family meets you, expect to experience one of the most scenic highways in Canada. From the airport to Vernon is just 35 minutes. The city of Vancouver is a 4.5 hour drive from Vernon.
